I have used both MC and CM extensively and my choice is CM 100%. The main reason for this is that it's extremely user friendly. I found that clients with little computer skills were completely lost in MC's interface, which resulted in ugly e-mails and people unsubscribing from their lists. These people initially chose MC because of its free plan, but are now happy to pay a fee for an easy to use newsletter manager like CM.

Most of my clients have small lists though, so the prices stay relatively low.

I will say I was considering using CM for their agency program, although their pricing was prohibitive for the market I am based in. Now that you have elaborated in detail about mail chimp, I will sign up and use the free version for a few months before diving in full time. Cheers and thanks

I'm not sure if they advertise it on their website or not, but I learned about the affiliate program from biz@mailchimp.com and they're the ones who set up my account. Hope this helps!

Good article. Thanks.

"You can get a 15% lifetime commission on the monthly spend of customers you send their way. This can be great if you simply want to refer a client to a service provider without having to deal with account management and billing like with Campaign Monitor."

How did you set this up? I can only find Monkeyrewards...

Thanks. BR,

The high cost of Campaign Monitor's base pricing makes using their option to set your own billing price for your clients rather difficult. It means that your costs will seem EVEN MORE excessive compared with the competition. I chose CM because of the white labelling but soon realised that the costs I'd have to charge to make it worthwhile would make my offering totally uncompetitive.

I have raised this with CM but they say they are excellent value.

I do like their system, and it is improving, but my next client will be put onto Mailchimp or something without such high pricing.
